John Soukos Finishes 5th at the PWA World Cup Sylt 2026

PWA World Cup Sylt 2026: John Soukos 5th in Foil Slalom, Cyril Evrard 18th on his comeback from injury, Gabriele Prosperi 34th at his first PWA event.

Three CHS riders lined up in the Foil Slalom fleet at the Citroën Windsurf World Cup Sylt, raced off Westerland from 25 September to 4 October 2026. John Soukos (GRE-198) finished 5th overall. Cyril Evrard (BEL-250) placed 18th on his comeback from a serious injury, and Gabriele Prosperi (ITA-278) finished 34th at his first ever PWA event.

Eight eliminations on the North Sea

Sylt is one of the longest-running stops on the tour, and this year it gave the foil fleet eight eliminations. The title went down to the final day. Fabian Wolf started it with a 0.3-point lead, then crashed out of his Elimination 8 semi-final after a collision at the first mark. Matteo Iachino took 3rd in the final and won the event by 1.7 points. Wolf finished 2nd, Amado Vrieswijk 3rd and Pierre Mortefon 4th.

John Soukos: in the top five from the first day

John was in the mix from his first heats. After a 4th, a 5th and a 7th in the opening three eliminations he sat 5th overall, four points behind third place. A tougher day later in the week, without a final in either elimination, pushed him down to 6th. Those results ended up among his discards, and on the last day he climbed back to 5th overall, just ahead of Bruno Martini.

Last season John finished 10th in the PWA overall ranking and 1st in the Youth division. This summer he took bronze at the IFCA Foiling European Championships. A top five in a five-star World Cup fleet is the next step up.

Cyril Evrard: back on the start line

Cyril came to Sylt on his way back from a serious injury. Lining up again in a World Cup fleet was a goal in itself, and he finished 18th among the best foil slalom riders in the world. Speed has never been the problem for Cyril: this season he also took 3rd at the ISWC Speed World Championship.

Gabriele Prosperi: a PWA debut

Two weeks before Sylt, Gabriele finished 7th overall and 2nd Youth at the Austria Slalom Cup in Torbole. He had been building towards this week all season. In Sylt he raced the whole event against the best riders in the world and finished 34th, at his first PWA World Cup.

I want to use these kind of races to prepare as well as possible for my first PWA event in Sylt.

The Foil Slalom tour now heads to Japan for the last event of the season. Congratulations, John, Cyril and Gabriele: the whole CHS family will be following.
